Allara vs Midi for HRT: nutrition support, appointments and cost

Two approaches to menopause care, with a closer look at what is included and what needs a separate estimate.

Allara and Midi can both enter the picture when menopause symptoms overlap with other health concerns. Their public offers emphasize different care structures, and comparing a monthly program price with a single visit price can be misleading.

Start with the help you want over the next few months. A medication consultation, regular dietitian appointments and care for another diagnosed condition may require different services and different bills.

The care structure is the first difference

Allara describes collaboration between medical providers and registered dietitians across hormonal and metabolic concerns, including menopause. Midi centers its virtual service on midlife care. Those descriptions indicate focus, not proof that one team will achieve better results.

Ask which professional you would actually see, how often, and whether nutrition appointments are included or scheduled separately. The Allara review examines the distinction between its medical and nutrition-only programs; the Midi review explains its menopause consultation model.

Put the same time period on both estimates

Allara’s public self-pay Complete Care price is $119 per month, while its nutrition-only program is $75 per month. Midi lists $250 for an initial self-pay visit and $150 for a follow-up. None of those numbers should be read as the universal price of all medicines and care.

For illustration, three $119 program months total $357. One $250 initial visit and one $150 follow-up total $400. These are arithmetic examples, not equivalent packages or a recommended appointment schedule. The included services differ, and a clinician may recommend a different pattern of follow-up.

Insurance can change the comparison

For either service, verify the individual plan and provider network. Ask separately about the medical visit, dietitian visit, lab work and medicine. A broad statement that insurance is accepted does not resolve your deductible or how a particular service is billed.

Midi’s eligibility restrictions deserve attention if you have Medicaid or Medi-Cal; its HRT page says those patients cannot currently receive care even as self-pay. Do not assume that paying cash bypasses a provider’s enrollment rules. Our insurance guide explains the questions to settle first.

Keep nutrition goals distinct from an HRT decision

You can want help planning meals without wanting weight-loss medication. You can also want treatment for hot flashes without agreeing that every symptom is a weight concern. Tell the team which goals matter to you and which topics you do not want driving the appointment.

Menopause hormone therapy is not a weight-loss treatment. The dietitian-support shortlist explains how nutrition care can sit alongside medical assessment without becoming a reason to prescribe hormones.

Check the prescription and handoff

Allara describes local or mail-order pharmacy options and a separate custom-prescription offering. Midi’s care plan also requires an individual prescribing decision. For either, request the exact product details and ask which clinician will handle adjustments and results.

If another doctor manages thyroid disease, diabetes or another condition, ask how the new team will coordinate with them. A shared medication list and a clear follow-up owner are more useful than assuming a broad program will automatically take over everything. Use the switching-care checklist if you are moving an existing prescription, and compare the resulting plan rather than just the brand descriptions.
