Hello Alpha vs Sesame HRT: written visits or a video conversation?

Compare communication, membership limits, testing and pharmacy arrangements for ongoing menopause care.

Hello Alpha and Sesame both describe online menopause care, with a different starting experience. Hello Alpha emphasizes written visits and provider messages; Sesame’s menopause subscription describes choosing a clinician and meeting by video.

This comparison was checked on September 26, 2026. The question is which care process fits your needs and how much that specific process costs. Neither convenience nor a particular communication format proves better medical results.

Picture the first clinical conversation

With Hello Alpha, you complete health information online for a clinician to review. This may fit a schedule with few uninterrupted blocks of time. It also requires being comfortable describing symptoms and asking follow-up questions in writing.

Sesame describes a video visit with a provider you select. That may be useful if you want to explain a long history aloud or ask several questions in real time. Check appointment availability and whether the same person can provide follow-up rather than assuming every clinician on the platform has the same scope.

Compare the membership you actually need

Hello Alpha’s menopause page directs readers to its Plus+ plan, listed at $79 monthly with four online visits per month. Ask what counts as a visit and how messages about an existing treatment are handled. Its lower-priced Basic tier is not the price quoted for the menopause pathway.

Sesame’s menopause service is also a subscription, but we could not verify a universal current fee from the readable official page. Request its current booking quote. An old promotional price, a weight-loss subscription or an individual marketplace appointment should not be used to fill that gap.

Testing has different practical arrangements

Hello Alpha advertises a finger-prick hormone kit and says at-home tests can be offered when lab work is needed. Sesame describes basic laboratory testing when ordered, with exceptions requiring direct laboratory payment in certain states. Ask each clinician what is proposed and why before treating either arrangement as a required menopause package.

The menopause blood-test guide helps distinguish an investigation from a membership feature. If recent results already exist, ask whether the new clinician can review them. Also find out how results will be delivered and who is responsible for following up on an abnormal finding.

A pharmacy benefit is not a membership benefit

Both services describe options involving a preferred pharmacy, and medication costs need separate confirmation. Ask your pharmacy or insurer about the exact prescribed product, quantity and coverage conditions. Membership payments do not automatically count toward a pharmacy copay or insurance deductible.

Hello Alpha’s membership FAQ specifically excludes using Medicare, Medicaid and other government-funded plans for its prescriptions. Readers with those benefits should confirm the policy before enrolling. Do not assume that a general statement about accepting prescription insurance covers every plan.

Plan for questions between appointments

For either company, ask how the care team handles a new symptom, a delayed refill or a medication that is not helping. Message access does not necessarily mean an immediate reply, and unlimited messaging is not the same as unlimited clinical visits. Know how the service escalates a concern that requires an examination.

Our follow-up guide helps organize what to report. If your symptoms need a different approach, the next decision may involve the treatment or the level of care rather than simply switching to a cheaper subscription.

Use the reviews to finish your comparison

The Hello Alpha review covers its testing, visit allowance and recurring charges. The Sesame review explains its laboratory exceptions and first-visit refund distinction. Read the terms for the actual offer shown to you before paying.

If you prefer written care, the message-based HRT shortlist provides additional options to investigate. If a live conversation is a priority, the video-visit shortlist offers another starting point. A clear plan for the second conversation matters as much as the format of the first.
